HOW DOES THE PROCESS WORK, WHERE DO WE START?
You've come to a great place to start, we will give free estimates and initial consultations. I recommend that you have a drawing of your kitchen layout and from there we can take a look at some samples of stone and walk the slab yard to see what works for you. This is usually enough to get you that free estimate. It is also helpful to have samples of other materials that you have already selected to put up against the stone and check compatibility.
CAN YOU WORK WITH A BUDGET?
Absolutely, we will do what needs to be done to accommodate your budget, within reason of course.
CAN WE COME DOWN AND SEE SOME OF YOUR WORK OR VISIT A FINISHED JOB?
Absolutely, we encourage this. We want you to see what we do and we are confident that our quality will surpass all others.
CAN YOU REMOVE EXISTING COUNTER TOPS AND PREPARE FOR NEW TOPS?
Yes, we are licensed to deal with the process of stone counter tops from demo to finish.
WHERE DO I GO TO LOOK AT MATERIAL?
We do offer material and there are pictures of our current stock on this website. We have also had tremendous success with ordering slabs online, but for some people seeing is believing.
DO YOU WORK WITH OTHER STONE SUPPLIERS, SPECIFICALLY WHAT IS ON ISLAND?
Yes, we work with pretty much any and all shops on island. We prefer to inform our competitors when one of our clients are going to visit their shop and look at material as a courtesy to the other shops. We can pick up and deliver slabs as well. Our goal is to make this an enjoyable process.
CAN YOU ORDER MATERIAL FROM THE MAINLAND?
Yes, we have ordered a majority of our material from the west coast and have them shipped over. We also work with suppliers on Oahu and the Big Island.
CAN I PUT MARBLE IN MY KITCHEN?
Most people would say no way, in reality it depends on you. Marble will etch easier and scratch easier and needs to be sealed more often, so in short it takes a little bit more maintenance to keep it's original luster. Although, the sealers today do provide a much better protection against abuse and there are even clear covers that can be applied to the material to make it "bullet proof." So go ahead put marble or even limestone in your kitchen, but let's treat it properly to maintain your tops beauty.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN UNDER MOUNT SINK AND A TOP MOUNT SINK?
Basically, one sits on top and the other is secured to the bottom of the stone revealing a polished cut out. For cleaning purposes, an under mount sink is preferred. The under mount sink has the advantage because you can just wipe your bread crumbs and other debris directly into the sink. There is not that advantage with a top mount sink.
WHAT IS THE NORMAL TURN AROUND TIME FOR MY KITCHEN TO BE COMPLETED?
This varies for each job. Our goal is to put your project on our schedule and have a reasonable amount of time to complete your work to our highest standard. Although, we realize that things happen and schedules get blown apart, so we do our best to accommodate each situation.
HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO SEAL MY STONE?
Industry standards say once a year for granite and multiple times a year for more porous stones. It comes down to whether or not water will bead up on the material. If you put water on your counter tops and it beads up, then you don't need to seal your tops. If you put water on and it does not bead but rather it soaks into the material then give us a call to set up an appointment to reseal your tops.
DO YOU WARRANTY YOUR WORK?
We warranty our installs for one year. There can be many factors for a failed install. I have seen it range from the wood shims holding up the cabinets being crushed to improperly supported floor beams which cause everything to move (I've seen this once in my 15 year career). Stone is not structural, so it needs a good foundation, properly secured counter tops and support for overhangs.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY NEW COUNTER TOPS?
It is suggested to use a non-abrasive cleaner that does not contain any acidic cleaning agents. We suggest a mild dish soap and warm water or even blue Windex. Anything beyond that, give us a call and we'll get you a solution.
DO YOU DO COMMERCIAL WORK?
Yes, we do and have done some large projects on island.
DO YOU SELL REMNANTS?
We do, come down and check out our stock.
DO YOU WORK WITH CAESARSTONE, SILESTONE OR CAMBRIA QUARTZ SURFACES?
We are certified to work with all of these materials and we would be happy to walk you through the process.
WHY WOULD I CHOOSE PRE FABS OVER SLAB WORK?
Pre fabs are meant to make tight budgets work. The difference between the two is quality. The stone is some cases is a lesser quality, but for sure the workmanship is of lower quality when it comes to pre fabs.
CAN YOU FIX SCRATCHES OR EVEN CRACKS?
Both of these can be tricky situations. I would have to see the situation to answer this question but if we can't fix it I will refer you to someone that can.
